D R A W I N G R O U T E S : experimentations in the art and act of drawing
MÓTI is a group of recent creative graduates who have either studied in, returned to, or chosen to base themselves in Orkney. Its participants work together collaboratively, in order to motivate and support each other; generating an inspired focus to produce new work and engage with exhibition opportunities. One of MÓTI’s objectives lies with ‘bridging the gap’ between being students and becoming practicing artists and designers within the Orkney Islands – establishing valuable relationships and networking prospects. This exhibition centred on drawing has allowed MÓTI members the freedom to experiment with the traditional tools and principles of the practice – allowing for individual interpretations of style, language, and medium to be questioned and explored. The result being an exhibition which traverses mixed terrain – offering a selection of starting points, investigations and finalised ideas.
Artists included in the exhibition are:
Kari Adams; Louise Barrington; Kerrianne Flett; Emma Fraser; Ingrid Garrioch; Calum Gillies; Nick Gordon; Kristyn Grieve; Mary Grieve; Frances Scott; Norna Sinclair and Stephanie Spence.
MÓTI is a Norse word meaning 'towards; to meet'
