Level Three has been selected and curated by third year students studying for the BA (Hons) Fine Art Textiles at the University of the Highlands and Islands, Orkney College campus.
At Level III, the students are required to organise and present an exhibition of their own work as part of the Professional Practice module.
The selected work has evolved over two years. Its starting point initially stimulated by a project brief entitled Heritage, Collection, Culture, and Identity.
The four students take inspiration from their Orkney connections and individual experience. They have conducted extensive research, explored a wide range of subjects and ideas as well as experimented with a variety of materials and techniques in the development of their own personal artistic expression.
This exhibition further develops the connections established by the Pier Arts Centre with the Higher Education sector and, in particular, highlights the on-going relationship with Orkney College and the UHI
