This new Collection display includes work by Alfred Wallis, Anish Kapoor and Eduardo Paolozzi, highlighting the core themes of the Collection – light, landscape and colour.
Back on display after being on loan to Museum Sztuki in Poland are three works by Barbara Hepworth. Two Heads, 1932; Involute II, 1946 and Orpheus (Maquette I) 1956 have been away from the gallery since October 2019, and will be exhibited alongside a selection of Hepworth’s lithographs and screenprints.
Many of the works on display will be accompanied by comments by children from Stromness Primary School. The children’s responses to the Collection were gathered during visits to the gallery, and give uninhibited, imaginative, sometimes serious and sometimes comical reaction the artworks.
