For nearly twenty years Laura Drever has been travelling around Orkney to study and explore the changing nature of her native islands. By walking over and through the landscape the artist has come to a deep understanding of the fabric and form of the hills, valleys and seascapes around her.

Teebro, an Orkney word describing the shimmering haze on a Summer’s day, includes a series of striking new drawings, paintings and prints that reflect the artist’s experience of locations including Hoy, Hobbister, Orphir and Scapa.

Laura Drever builds on a strong tradition of landscape painting in Orkney that includes the Stromness artist Sylvia Wishart and visitors to the islands, Bet Low and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, who all shared a belief that visual art could reveal the underlying patterns, as well as the feel, of a place.  

Laura Drever studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art and works from her studio in Kirkwall.
