photographs from the Gunnie Moberg Archive selected by Orkney Blide Trust Photography Group accompanied by their own photographic responses
Working with photographer Rebecca Marr, ‘PhAB’ — Photography Appreciation at the Blide - developed an idea of selecting works from the Gunnie Moberg Archive held at Orkney Library & Archive and presenting these as an exhibition alongside images of their own, made directly and indirectly in response to Gunnie’s photographs.
The project has also benefitted from the input of Ami Robb, third year BA Fine Art undergraduate at Orkney College UHI, who joined the group as part of her Professional Practice Module delivered with the Pier Arts Centre.
There will be an informal walk and talk with several of the participating artists from the PhAB group on Wednesday 16 August, 3pm.
The Orkney Blide Trust is a charity that promotes mental wellbeing in Orkney, through active personalised support with a focus on recovery.
Gunnie Moberg (1941-2007) was a Swedish photographer and artist who worked in Scotland, making Orkney her home in 1976. During her photographic career she worked primarily in Orkney, but also in Shetland and the Faroe Islands, making aerial and landscape photographs as well as portraits of celebrities and locals alongside her photojournalism.
