Since her major exhibition "Why I Choose Red" at the CCA, Glasgow in 1987 to her most recent show at An Tobar, Isle of Mull in 2017, Sam Ainsley has been at the forefront of Scottish contemporary art. As both an artist and teacher she has made a significant contribution to the visual arts, teaching at Glasgow School of Art for over 25 years on both the ground breaking Environmental Art programme and as co-founder and Head of the Master of Fine Art programme until 2005. She recently received an Honorary Doctorate from GSA in recognition of her achievements.
Sam will discuss her own work, her ideas and sources of inspiration, her time at GSA as well as talk more widely about contemporary art in Scotland today.
