Orkney legend and ‘Game for Change’ at heart of new sculpture

A new sculpture and performance work by artists Zoë Walker and Neil Bromwich will take place at the Pier Arts Centre at 3pm on Friday of Stromness Shopping Week. The event has been created by the artists in collaboration with members of Piergroup, the Centre’s collective of creative young people. With music composed by Gemma McGregor and performed along with Kirstin Linklater and Bruce Mainland the event promises to be both moving and entertaining.

The event features a hand tailored structure, which draws on the well-known Orkney story of the Great Selkie O’ Suleskerry and relates to another new work by Walker & Bromwich that is currently on show in the Pier Arts Centre – Game for Change. Both works focus on the process of change and notions of how or if change can be managed.

A related event at the Pier Arts Centre on Saturday 26 July at 3pm will provide a chance to play the Game for Change with the artists along with Mark Butcher, a professional business consultant and expert in change management who will lead the game play. Mark Butcher has worked within the non-profit sector for 25 years and has delivered training and consultancy to organisations in more than a dozen countries. He specializes in helping people to build robust and sustainable organisations.
