This August a crew of scientists and artists will arrive in Stromness after ten days sailing along the northwest coast of Scotland from Ullapool.
Combining geology research with artistic responses to sea, coast, the earth’s most ancient rocks, and the challenges of sailing, they will share their stories and some of the work they’ve produced at an event at the Pier Arts Centre on Tuesday 28 August, 7-8pm. Admission is free and no booking is required.
The trip is part of Sail Britain’s Coastline Project, a circumnavigation of the UK bringing scientists and creative practitioners together in an exploration of the coast: its history, its ecology, maritime culture, and environmental issues.
