Essentially abstract in character, Louise Barrington’s work transforms formal visual elements - form, line, pattern and colour in a lyrical, subtle and poetic way.  The works expand into the gallery space –with the addition of artificial lighting extending their reach beyond the structures themselves.  
 
Louise Barrington grew up in Orkney completing her BA in Textile Design at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art, London, and her MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art, London.  More recently she received a Postgraduate Diploma in Island Studies at the Centre for Nordic Studies, part of the University of the Highlands and Islands.  Since 2016, she has been based at the WASPS Studios in Stromness and has been central in establishing the art collective Moti for young emerging artists based in Orkney.
