A series of workshops, demonstrations and presentations offers audiences an opportunity to meet the artists included in Form & Function - eight Orkney Makers and find out more about their working methods:
One-day Residencies
Come and see four of our exhibitors at work as they set up a temporary workshop in the gallery.

Drop-in sessions
Each Saturday we will be focussing on some of the crafts and skills employed by our eight Orkney makers and offering the opportunity to bring along your own work and chat with others or perhaps try your hand at something new.

14 May, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm Knitting
4 June, 11am-1pm, 2-4pm Print on fabric

Evening Workshops
Tues 3 May, 7-9pm Inspiration from the Pier Arts Centre Collection
A workshop designed to look in detail at the permanent collection as a source of inspiration for your own projects. Simple exercises looking at colour, tone, shape and form will enable you take these forward into a variety of processes and materials.
Tues 10 May, 7-9pm Creating mood boards
This workshop concentrates on further design development and how to extend your idea in to a wider frame of reference for a variety of practical projects.
Admission is free but booking is required. Book as individual workshops or a a series. No experience needed with all materials supplied.
Thursday 26 May, 11-11.30am & 2-2.30pm
Zoe Davidson will give two short tours of her work at the Pier Arts Centre. Following both tours there will be an opportunity to visit Zoe’s Stromness studio (space in her studio is limited so numbers are restricted.)
